local economic development world forum

We are pleased to share with you that our Mario Biggeri (Scientific Director), Andrea Ferrannini (Local Development Coordinator) and Andrea Ricci (Researcher) are currently in Praia, Cabo Verde, as participants and speakers at the 4th edition of the World Forum of Local Economic Development (LED).

The LED World Forum aims at promoting open and active dialogue on Local Economic Development, concrete cooperation at both the local and the international level as well as the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event gathers national, regional, local government officials as well as practitioners and engaged stakeholders from all over the world.

This will be a good opportunity to introduce to an international audience DELGEN and its work! DELGEN is an initiative promoted by the UNDP regional bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean and a consortium of regional and global organizations committed to inclusive and equitable development.

DELGEN aims at the promotion of more inclusive economic development processes by incorporating the gender perspective in the elaboration, implementation, and evaluation of local policies. Our Andrea Ferrannini and Caterina Arciprete have been among the coordinators of this initiative since its launch in 2015.

DELGEN has recently launched the first Regional Call for Good Practices in “Experiences that make a difference: Gender Equality and Women’s Economic Empowerment in the Latin American and Caribbean Territories within the localization of SDGs”. The call will be open until the 28th of February 2018.

This call wants to recognize, value and strengthen the good practices of Local Economic Development with a gender approach that is potentially transferable and replicable. It addresses to the experiences in the Latin American and Caribbean Region that have proven to be successful in reducing gender inequalities, favoring women economic empowerment and transforming existing gender relations.
