SDGs localization: opportunities and challenges in the post Covid19 scenario in Italy

For the 75th anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly, the third U20 in Riyadh and on the eve of the Decade for Action, the ten years that separate us from the goal of the 2030 Agenda, we are facing numerous challenges, but also numerous opportunities. The Covid 19 emergency had serious consequences from an economic, social and environmental point of view and its consequences are still difficult to quantify. SDGs localization will therefore be a useful tool to use efficiently all the resources coming from the funds for the recovery and the  2021-2027 structural funds.

For an efficient use of resources, it will be necessary to provide for timely monitoring, also through Voluntary Local Review, and integrated governance, both of which will be able to connect the various institutional levels with citizens and their territories. To understand the context in which local institutions will operate and what tools they have at their disposal, ARCO’s Local Development Unit and FELCOS Umbria organized a meeting on the topic.

Discussants:

Martino Miraglia | UN-HABITAT
Giovanni Camilleri | UNDP ART Initiative
Sandro Costantini | Regione Umbria
Benedetta Squittieri |Comune di Prato
Umberto Bonetti | Comune di Bevagna

Moderators:

Andrea Ferrannini | ARCO
Lucia Maddoli | FELCOS Umbria

The event was part of the Sustainable Development Festival promoted by ASviS – Alleanza Italiana per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile
