The Mapping of Third Sector Organisations in Casentino is part of the Tuscany Health Ecosystem – THE, an initiative articulated in 10 research macro-topics, entrusted to specific research groups or spokes. The spokes are related to issues related to life sciences and innovation in the health system of the Tuscany region. In particular, spoke 10, called “Population Health,” is distinguished by its goal of innovating the health system by focusing on the active involvement of the population and communities. In this area, the University of Florence is working on the specific theme defined as “Community engagement and social innovation for health and well-being of individuals and territories.”

Obbiettivo generale

The objective of the research is the systematic surveying of social capital in the inland area of Casentino, with particular reference to the Third Sector Organizations present and operating in the area. These have been set up in order to take care of the general interest and are able to provide fundamental resources for the social and health protection network, in order to ensure a comprehensive care of people.

Cosa abbiamo fatto

ARCO supported the DISEI in conducting a mapping of Third Sector Organizations in Casentino through survey questionnaires and interviews, in order to enhance their role in the reorganization of health, social and socio-health services for the benefit of the citizenry, and to understand their sustainability over time.

To return as accurate a picture as possible of the social capital situation in the project areas, the research consisted of the following phases:

  1. The collection of biographical information from a variety of sources;
  2. The data cleaning of the information thus obtained;
  3. The collection of more detailed information through the online administration of a questionnaire;
  4. The processing and analysis of the collected data and their graphical and cartographic representation.
