Junior Researcher
Irene graduated in International Studies in Trento in 2021, with a thesis entitled ‘The Limits of the Responsibility to Protect: a principle difficult to implement? The critical case of the Rohingya in
Myanmar”. Then, she completed a Master’s Degree in Development Economics at the University of Florence in 2023. Her thesis “Assessing the economic impact of the CFA Franc Zone membership. An analysis implementing the Synthetic Control Method to evaluate the economic development of Madagascar” was the outcome of a research period at the University of Sciences-Po-Aix, France, where she conducted a study on the impact of French neo-colonialism on the economic development of the member countries of the CFA franc monetary union.
During the same period, she carried out a MAECI internship at the Italian Consulate in Marseille.
She has developed a keen interest in various economic, political, and social issues related to the
international framework, such as socio-economic inequality, gender economics, and sustainable rural development.
